Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama is comprised of 30 counties: Autauga, Baldwin, Barbour, Bullock, Butler, Chambers, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Coosa, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Dallas, Elmore, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Mobile, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Tallapoosa, Washington and Wilcox.
The Girl Scout community is hard at work addressing our Core Business Strategy’s call for a major transformation centered on building the world's best leadership experience that ties activities to outcomes, provides differentiation for girls from kindergarten through high school, and offers flexible pathways for today's diverse and busy girls and volunteers.
With input from girls, the Girl Scout community, and youth development experts, a team of national and council staff spent 2005 determining key elements and outcomes for the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This model was finalized in 2006 and then slated, by the National Board of Directors, for first-stage implementation in fall 2008.
 Dr. Liz Brent, CEO
Liz had a 30-year career in administration at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. Her strengths include visioning, strategic planning, budget management and teambuilding. She is a work-a-holic who believes that research and preparation pay dividends by allowing informed, data-driven decision-making. She promises to train and empower employees rather than micromanage them.
And she is returning to her roots. One of her first jobs was as a counselor in a Girl Scout Camp.
 Chair Ellen Brooks is a member of the board of directors and a past president of the board of Girl Scouts of South Central Alabama. She served on GSUSA's National Board of Directors as a member-at-large, third vice president, member of the nominating committee and executive committee from 1990-2005.
Ellen has served as District Attorney, Fifteenth Judicial Court of Alabama from 1993 to the present. Twenty-five organizations have benefited from her service and leadership on their boards of directors; Ellen is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery and was a girl member of GSSCA.
